Avalanche of Generosity | Courageous Generosity

This week’s scripture is taken from 1 Kings 17:8-16 NLT

As we begin this year’s “Avalanche of Generosity” series during this Advent season, we want to take a look at five mission principles we focus upon at SLW. Listen this week as Pastor Jesse takes a closer look at the “courageous generosity” we are all called to live out as we demonstrate God’s goodness towards others.

The Jesus Series | John 7

“On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, ‘Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ When he said ‘living water,’ he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.” (John 7:37-39 NLT)

As we get ready to enter the Christmas season, we want to take a look at the issue of unbelief. Continuing our walk through the Book of John this week in the “Jesus Series,” we take a closer look at John 7, and the process of moving from unbelief as we come to Jesus.

The Jesus Series | Hope for a Future

“The time will come when I will heal Jerusalem’s wounds and give it prosperity and true peace. I will restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel and rebuild their towns. I will cleanse them of their sins against me and forgive all their sins of rebellion. Then this city will bring me joy, glory, and honor before all the nations of the earth! The people of the world will see all the good I do for my people, and they will tremble with awe at the peace and prosperity I provide for them.” (Jeremiah 33:6-9 NLT)

In light of everything going on in our world recently, it can seem like at times there is an overwhelming fear and hopelessness, as if the enemy is marching directly towards us. This week, we step out of our study of the book of John for a week, but instead Pastor Jesse unpacks a passage in Jeremiah 33, where we see the hope God gives us beyond the circumstances surrounding us today when it can feel like our lives are in chaos.

The Jesus Series | John 6

“‘Don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.’ They replied, ‘We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?’ Jesus told them, ‘This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.'” (John 6:27-29 NLT)

In the beginning of John 6, a crowd of people witnesses Jesus feeding well over 5000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. This week, Pastor Jesse draws his attention on the words from Jesus that immediately follows this story, for us to focus on what matters most and to focus on what God wants from us as He calls us to more.

The Jesus Series | John 5

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.” (John 5:24 NLT)

In John 5, we read a story of Jesus healing a man who had been sick for many years. Bryan Feathers joins us this week, and as we read through this chapter, we see the Savior who gives hope to each of us, through God’s love, He is Emmanuel, God with us.
