He not only wants our lives to count, but he wants our lives to be abundant.
Jesus once said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
Would you like to begin living a truly abundant life?
Not necessarily a materialistically abundant life, but a life of meaning and purpose?
If so, take a moment to journey along the 'Romans Road'...
The biblical book of Romans was written by a man named Paul. Early in his life, Paul hated and persecuted Christians. But that was before he met Jesus. In Romans, we see Paul on a path known as the 'Roman Road', laying out our need for salvation and explaining how God has met that need through Jesus.
The first stop on the Road is POWER: There is a power capable of giving you hope.
The Bible tells us that God has that power.
Romans chapter 1, verse 16 says, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes."
The second stop on the Road is CHANGE: The release of God's power results in change.
The biblical word for change is repentance. This means allowing God to change the direction of our lives, agreeing with him that we need help with our sin condition.
A universal problem the Bible calls sin makes change necessary for all of us. Sin means 'missing the mark'. It is failing to meet God's standard for how we ought to live.
Romans chapter 3, verse 23 says, "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
The third stop on the Road is GOD'S LOVE: Even thought he's not pleased with us, God loves us and wants to help us.
As sinners, we find ourselves in a difficult situation: The punishment for sin is death.
Romans chapter 6, verse 23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of life is eternal life in Jesus Christ."
God is willing to forgive us by accepting Jesus his son as our substitute. Jesus' death on the cross over 2,000 years ago paid the penalty for our sin.
His resurrection from the dead provides our eternal life.
Romans chapter 5, verse 8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
The fourth stop on the Road to Hope is OUR COMMITMENT: We can commit ourselves to Jesus, and find peace with God.
Romans chapter 10, verses 9 and 13 say, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved...for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
God has bridged the gap between his holy and pure nature and our sin!
By offering his own son Jesus as a sacrifice, the penalty for our sin has been paid.
When Jesus returned to life three days after his execution, he defeated death for all who would believe in him.
We don't have to be perfect before we come to him; he will accept us just as we are. But we do need to turn to him, turn from our sin, seek his forgiveness, and ask Jesus to be the Lord of our lives.
What does the 'Roman Road' teach us?
God loves us, created us, and wants us to have a personal relationship with Him.
Our sin keeps us from having a personal relationship with God.
Only through Jesus Christ can we have a personal relationship with God.
We must personally respond by trusting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Have you made that decision? Here's a prayer you can pray...
Dear God, I need You. Forgive me for my sin, and help me to begin living for you. I believe in Your Son, Jesus. I believe He died for me, and I believe He rose again. I ask Him to come into my life at this very moment. Make me a new person from the inside out. Help me to begin living for You right now. I give You my life, and will follow you from this moment on. Amen.
Would you do us a favor?
If you prayed to receive Christ, would you let us know?
