“But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what
you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” –
Matthew 13:16-17
The parables of Jesus are incredibly important. Jesus frequently used these
brief word-pictures to illustrate important truths. In fact, roughly one-third of
what He said in Matthew, Mark and Luke is in parables.
Many parables are incredibly familiar to us, and we know them very well. But
one of the cool things about the parables is their endless relevance. There is
always more to learn if we look more closely. As a result, if we are willing to
humbly listen, these stories provide an opportunity to know God and His
purposes more fully.
