Faith in Action: A Journey Through James
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive
yourselves. Do what it says.”
James 1:22
The New Testament contains several books that we
call Epistles. These books are actually letters that
were written to encourage, challenge and instruct.
The most practical of all the epistles is the book of
James. It was written by the brother of Jesus, and it
has been referred to as “A Practical Guide to
Christian Life and Conduct.” Unlike other letters of
the day, James spends a lot of time emphasizing the
need to live out our faith in practical ways and to
put the words of Jesus into practice. Jesus came
not only to save us but to provide us an example by
which we could live. We are called to follow His
example and teaching, and we need to take the
words of Jesus…the red letters…seriously. As a
result, we invite you to join us as we journey
through James and ultimately seek to put our faith
into action.
