Wednesday nights starting September 10th we'll be launching a brand-new children's opportunity for kids
... It's called UChooz! UChooz will capitalize on all of the best elements of different children's programming
models to create a biblical, relevant, life-application learning opportunity for kids pre-K through 4th grade
(there will be a separate opportunity for 5th & 6th graders called "Club 56").
The scriptural basis for UChooz is Deuteronomy 30:19b-20a "Now choose life…that you may love the Lord
your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him." Kids have a lot of choices in their lives … we're
excited to equip them to make wise, life-changing choices. When we surveyed the families at SLW, one of
the things we heard was that their schedules are jam-packed and it's hard to commit to a long-term
midweek program, but would love their children to be involved in additional discipleship opportunities.
With that in mind, UChooz will be set up in two 10-week semesters during the year, with two 5-week parts
per semester.
This will allow families with calendar conflicts to commit to a smaller segment of time that will complement
their schedule instead of compete with it. Meanwhile, for those that choose to, we will still have a
consistent program all year. Semester 1
Part One - September 10 - October 8 (5 weeks)
Part Two - October 22-November 19 (5 weeks) Semester 2
Part One - January 14 - February 11 (5 weeks)
Part Two - February 25 - March 25 (5 weeks)
We're going to use this year's flipt VBS format (which the kids loved!) with new curriculum and new
elective choices. Each 5-week part will offer different elective choices. UChooz will run from 6:30 - 8:
00pm each Wednesday night. You're also invited to join us for the Family Table at 5:30pm. This is a free,
come-as-you-are dinner for those that may be rushed getting home from school or work and back out the
