Come Together | Advent & AofG Week 4

Advent
(from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming”)

Advent is the period of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the
Nativity of Jesus, in other words, the period immediately preceding Christmas.

Christians believe that the season of Advent serves a dual reminder of the original waiting that was done by the Hebrews for the birth of their Messiah as well as the waiting that Christians today endure as they await the second coming of Christ.

This Christmas let’s Come+Together in anticipation of Christ’s coming!

Join us November 26th ~ December 17th at 9:30 or 11:00am this advent season and may you truly find His hope, peace, joy, and love.

Avalanche of Generosity | Radical Love

“This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. ‘Joseph, son of David,’ the angel said, ‘do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.'” (Matthew 1:18-21 NLT)

As a child, oftentimes we received an unexpected gift from someone that turned out to be what we considered to be “the perfect gift.” As this year’s “Avalanche of Generosity” winds down, Pastor Jesse continues a look at SLW’s core principles, closing with “Radical Love,” the ultimate perfect, unexpected gift we received at Christmas with the birth of Jesus Christ.

Avalanche of Generosity | Reckless Pursuit and Transformational Multiplication

Continuing our “Avalanche of Generosity” series and our look at five missional principles we focus on at SLW, we look at “reckless pursuit” and “transformational multiplication” as they relate to the Christmas story and to our call to live out these principles in our lives as we serve others.
